“The 20th Century gave us great conservation leaders who inspired us to go outside and save what was left of our big wild places. Now we need a 21st Century conservation that will produce new leaders from the worlds of civil society, business, and finance to create economies that value these wild places in every transaction.”
Jim Tolisano, ICONS Co-Founder
We are leading a public/private effort to establish and empower an independent Egyptian non-profit foundation to bring together government, local communities, and private sector organizations to conserve the globally significant Red Sea coral reef ecosystems and ensure sustainable, green development in surrounding areas.
We work in collaboration with the Coastal First Nations, Nanwakolas Council, and Coast Funds, a unique indigenous conservation trust to support the financial sustainability of the world’s first indigenous-led network of marine protected areas and nature-based economic development for indigenous communities within the Northern Shelf marine ecosysems in coastal British Columbia.
ICONS provides training and technical support to the Inter-American Development Bank and the Government of Barbados in the design, implementation, and operationalization of the newly established Barbados Environmental Sustainability Fund (BESF) and associated Marine Spatial Planning process.
